If you're like me, you like to take things apart to see how they work. So I thought I'd show you a couple of knives "pre-assembly." The blade material I've used here is 52100 steel that I forged from 3/4" roundstock. The liners are sheet metal from a local shop. The springs are from the hood of my old 72 Chevy pick-up. All have been hand forged then heat treated and tempered to serve their purpose. The handle on the top knife is local Montana elkhorn. The handle on the bottom knife is wooly mammoth ivory.
